To encourage health testing, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA will subsidize 20% of the heart auscultations, eye exams, patella exams and OFA hip x-rays for Cavaliers belonging to club members. This is not a fund raiser.
The non-member charges and other testing charges are the fees the doctors are charging.
Hearts –screened by auscultation $40 ($32 for CKCSC, USA members) Janice Bright, DVM (DAVCIM Cardiology) or Derek Hanes DVM (DAVCIM Cardiology) Heart Echocardiography exam $260 without auscultation to check for DCM Echo for a breed prone to heart disease will also need an auscultation for a total of $300 ($292 for members) Derek Hanes DVM (DAVCIM Cardiology)
Eyes – OFA CAER eye exam. $35 ($28 for CKCSC, USA members) Steven Roberts DVM (ACVO Ophthalmology)
Patellas –Mike Jewell, DVM will evaluate patellas $25 ($20 for CKCSC, USA members)
Hips – OFA Hip x-rays will be taken without sedation for $120 ($96 for CKCSC, USA members) by Dr. Jewell Other OFA x-rays, without sedation Elbows $95 Shoulder $95 Spine $185
Microchipping – The chip fee includes registration. $40
Other services, Brenda McClelland, DVM Heartworm testing $30 Bloodwork – CBC, chem. panel and thyroid to IDEXX $160 Bloodwork – Thyroid for OFA listing $155 (minimum of 3 dogs must sign up)
Fees to submit results to the OFA are not included. For x-rays or thyroid blood work going to the OFA, leave your completed OFA form and payment for the OFA fees at the clinic
